Saya memasuki sebuah kedai kopi kecil bersama seorang teman dan memesan kopi. Ketika kami sedang menuju ke meja ada dua orang yang datang kemudian mereka pergi ke counter: ‘Kami pesan lima kopi, dua untuk kami dan tiganya “ditangguhkan (suspended)". Mereka membayar pesanan mereka, mengambil hanya dua gelas saja kemudian pergi.

Saya bertanya kepada teman saya: "Apa itu ‘ kopiditangguhkan (suspended coffees)’?" Teman saya berkata: "Tunggu dan kamu akan lihat."

Beberapa orang lagi masuk. Dua gadis memesan masing-masing satu kopi, membayar dan pergi. Pesanan berikutnya adalah tujuh kopi yang dipesan oleh tiga orang pengacara - tiga untuk mereka dan empat 'ditangguhkan’.

Terus terang saya masih bertanya-tanya apa yang dimaksud dengan transaksi -kopi ditangguhkan- tadi. Sementara saya menikmati cuaca cerah dan pemandangan yang indah ke arah alun-alun di depan kafe, tiba-tiba seorang pria berpakaian lusuh yang tampak seperti seorang pengemis masuk melalui pintu dan bertanya dengan sopan kepada pelayan “apakah Anda memiliki ‘kopi ditangguhkan’? “.
